Afternoon Summation
A lot happened today in the world of iPod. I think that most of the changes have been good. Some brief thoughts:
- The multi-tiered price points of the mini combined with the two shuffle models give budget conscience iPod buyers a nice selection to choose from. From the cheapest shuffle to the 6GB mini, there is not a bad choice to be made.
- The move to color screens and photo viewing capabilities in the high end signal Apple's apparent move to make digital photography a bigger part of the iPod experience - perhaps more importantly, part of the digital lifestyle experience. I think these two life interests blend well together and I'm happy to see Apple emphasize them.
- The only complaint that I have about today's changes is the removal of the A/V cable or dock from the iPod photo models. This means that an iPod photo buyer who wants to view photos on an external device must purchase an accessory. I don't think it's necessary to include both the cable and dock, but one of them should be included with each iPod photo.
