Apple adds to the iPod mini line

Apple has announced a new 6GB mini model. This model, available in four colors (blue, green, pink, and silver), will sell for $249. The previous 4GB mini is still available at a price of $199 and is available in the same four colors. Battery life for all mini models has been increased to 18 hours.

We see that the colors stay the same, with the deletion of the gold offering. There is no word on a limited life of the 4GB models as some of the rumors suggested (sell them until stock runs out). The mini keeps the B/W screen too. You can't go wrong with making the device a better bargain, and with the much improved battery life, we've got a decent update for the polychromatic iPod.

Update: The mini colors have indeed changed. Apple says they are now more vibrant. Also, the color of the pictographs on the click wheel match the color of the mini.

Got my new mini today…a green one and the color is indeed more vibrant…a bit more “metalic” looking.

The improved battery life and extra two gigs is fantastic. Color screens would have been nice as would new colors, but 18 hours of battery is a nice surprise.
