helixipod Aluminum Billet Cases

So I held off running this because I read through the forum thread and they talk about putting the kibosh on publicizing the photos (not sure why they didn't remove them from the thread then) but other places are picking this up and my email to the guy has gone unanswered so here it is. A bloke named helixipod, who has recreational access to a CNC machine, posted his personal creation in an iPodlounge forum thread and then all hell broke loose. The drooling accolades of other iPod case fiends have convinced him to start producing these sexy aluminum billet cases with intentions of limited production sales.
This type of case is not for everybody, and it clearly has some limitations (weight, needs to sync with a cable). But it's probably so strong that you could run your car over it and the thing would be fine. If James Bond had an iPod shuffle, this is the case he would use.
I love this aspect of the "iPod economy." A regular person comes up with an idea, or dares to put action to their dream, and comes out ahead. We see this a lot and I just think it's great.
By the way, a CNC machine is basically a big machine with a platform, controlled by a computer, that can make big chunks of metal into small chunks of metal in any shape you want. The ones I've seen use a spinning drill bit to shave material from the block, little by little, and make numerous slow passes.
