AppleInsider: all about iTunes v4.9

AppleInsider has a juicy article (iTunes 4.9 ahead of schedule, major launch planned) all about iTunes v4.9. According to the article, the new version of iTunes will be released with a lot of hubbub and is smartly ahead of schedule. This article then goes on to illustrate the "three-tier approach" Apple is taking to simplify podcast technology. Lots of detail and it is a must-read if you're interested at all.
I'm glad to hear that Apple may promote iTunes as a separate entity. Too often, it is easy to overlook iTunes as just a tool to get music onto your iPod. What I tell people is that iTunes is a great application, whether you have an iPod or not. Plus, it's free. Smart playlists, excellent ID3 tag management, shared libraries (although hobbled now), and it's cross-platform. It's not perfect, but it's way better than the competition.
