Tunewear’s new Tunetag Edge for iPod nano

The new TuneTag Edge from Tunewear is a dog-tag style case made from their trademark durable silicon that features a covered back, an open front, and a thick protective bumper around the edge of the iPod nano. A molded loop on the bottom of the case grants an attachment point using the included ball bearing chain or use one of your own to create a lanyard. The Tunetag Edge's design allows full access to the headphone jack and hold switch. So go ahead and show it off like you don't care, but protect it like you do. [LINK]

DecalGirl iPod nano skins

DecalGirl has released - make that flooded, unleashed, you might even say vomited - 150 different skin designs for iPod nano. Selling at $6 each, DecalGirl's skins consist of pieces that apply to the front and back of the iPod nano to protect and beautify it in one isn't-it-great-to-be-alive -in-the-21st-century stroke. If the material used for these nano skins is the same as their iPod shuffle skins then I can tell you it's good stuff. [LINK]
If you want your nano's display covered, and yes you do, then you need to get some of their Screen Armor clear stickers that cover the display area. You can use these with or without a colorful full-body decal. They come in packs of 4 and cost $3 more.

- Apple says the iPod nano screen breakage issue is not a big deal (and I agree), "...this issue has affected less than one tenth of one percent of the total iPod Nano units that we've shipped. It is not a design issue." They are replacing affected units for free, now everybody just calm down. [LINK]

iPoditude Review: Digiana Audia X iTube-101 car FM transmitter for iPod shuffle
In my original post about the Digiana Audia X iTube-101 I made a joke about how it looks like Dr. Seuss designed it. Admittedly, I did feel a little bit like The Cat In The Hat as I drove around in my car with it (no, I don't drive a S.L.O.W), with the little blue light flashing to the sonic disco beats. The iTube worked quite well, especially in one important area. But what's with those long, flexible stalks? Click through to read all of my observations.

iPoditude contest winner

I'm happy to announce that Maya S. from San Diego, California was the winner of the iPoditude.com contest sponsored by Tunewear. She'll be recieving the Poptune for shuffle stickers. Her favorite design, by the way, is the Aloha pattern since it matches her surfboard (pictured at right, conveniently posing with her surfboard, iPod shuffle, and small furry animal that looks a little bit like a dog).

PodBox nano: Carrying case and microfiber cloth combo

Top secret spies like to carry things in little cases. Don't ask me how I know. Now even civilians can carry their iPod in the PodBox, a small case made of white polypropylene which measures 4" x 3" and is less than an inch thick. There is a small hole in the case which allows you to run the headphone cable out of it so you can listen with your iPod encased. What's more, the PodBox comes with a microfiber cloth sleeve designed specifically for the iPod nano. Get the combo for only $15 because you never know when you might have to go undercover.

Fabulous Friday nano Frenzy

The Register has an article all about the obsessive-compulsive amongst us (takes one to know one) and how you (okay, we) like to keep our iPods scratch-free. Seems that the nano is even more scratch-prone. What do you think? Link
And to that effect, I was thinking about how to protect the iPod nano now before protective cases appear on the market. One of my favorite iPod products is the Moshi iPouch and I would suggest picking one of these up (check the eBay listings too) and use it until you can get a nano case proper. Then use the iPouch for your glasses, cell phone, or simply as a polishing cloth. Thanks to Emma for the original idea which got embedded so deep within my brain that I thought it was my own.
With a rare fervor, Apple analysts and fans alike eagerly scrutinize every move the company makes and every product the company releases. To that end iSupply has performed a bill of materials analysis of the costs involved in making an iPod nano. As you read it, don't forget about the retailer's cut of the pie too. Link

DLO HomeDock: There’s no place like home… dock

The new DLO HomeDock is an iPod docking station and remote control combo. It features outputs for S-Video, composite video, analog L/R audio connections, and a standard USB connection for synching with your computer. The included remote can control 14 functions of your iPod. The HomeDock will ship in October and it's compatible with regular iPod, iPod mini, and iPod nano. At $100 it's not cheap, but it looks to be a really nice all-in-one solution.

Be a rock star (in your own mind) with DLO’s new Relaxed Leather iPod case

"Badass rockstar leather cases" is how DLO describes their latest Relaxed Leather iPod case. Made from "rawhide", these flip-style cases each feature a unique pattern created with decorative stitching or rivets. There is a belt clip on the back so you don't have to carry it down the front of your pants - but you can still do that if you want. Choose from six different styles, they fit all regular iPod models, and prices range from $35 to $40. Link
