Reset the Play Count in iTunes

playcount.jpg
Play count in iTunes is a nifty little feature. It's great to incorporate it into Smart Playlists so that you can continue to hear fresh music or, adversely, keep playing the songs you like to hear. One of my favorite, and most often listened to, playlists in iTunes is 'New music'. This Smart Playlist consists of any track with a play count of zero and a date added within the last 4 months. This way, I'm sure to listen to all of the music that I download.

Methodshop.com has a nice little tutorial that tells you how to reset the play count in iTunes. It's easier than I would have thought, I guess I've always just overlooked it in that contextual menu. [link]

Another good option, one that I use frequently, is the 'Add or Subtract Play Count' AppleScript from Doug's AppleScript's site. [link]
