Construction and Materials
The Pivot Silicone Case For iPod nano is made from moderately thick, high quality silicon. It features cutouts for the iPod's display, click wheel, hold button on top, and one large cutout for the iPod's dock connector and headphone port on the bottom. Two slits are molded into the back to mount an armband, but no armband is included. Pivot has one available but it's not for sale on their web site currently. A small anchor point is molded into the side for an included ribbon lanyard. The cases are translucent and the colors are generally attractive. Note: the black case looks great on a black nano - very menacing, like Darth Vader.

The cases fit the iPod very well. They are molded well and have neat, clean cuts. What's more, they are quite easy to put on and take off, partly a result of the numerous cutouts and partly because of the silky texture of the silicon.

Pivot claims that these silicon cases are sprayed with a substance called Organic Anti-Dust material. Besides hoping that it doesn't make me grow three eyes and cause all of my hair to fall out, I did notice that these cases have a nice silky feel to them and whatever gunk and lint would stick to them was brushed off easily.

The included lanyard is very nice. It's made from a stretchy, thick type of ribbon and has a sliding plastic knot on it. However, it attaches to the case at a very little, thin piece of silicon. I know that silicon cases are surprisingly strong and stretchy (this one included), but I just wouldn't really trust it with my iPod.

All of the cutouts are on the small side of acceptability. The hole around the hold button makes for a tight fit (longer fingernails would help), and I had to pull the case out of the way slightly to anchor headphone cables all the way into the headphone jack. This is only a slight bother though.

Usage
It is with usage that the shortcomings of the Pivot Silicone Case For iPod nano become obvious. I can live without click wheel protection, but the lack of iPod display protection is a problem. At the least, these cases should include some clear stick-on protectors for the iPod's display.

The slits present on the back of the case had me worried that they would allow small dirt and debris into the case, which then being trapped between the case and iPod, would happily and efficiently scratch it up.

The included lanyard is very nice. Even though the nano weighs next to nothing, I had a difficult time overcoming my reticence at trusting my new iPod to that tiny little anchor point on the case itself. You be the judge.

The Bottom Line
I feel that the Pivot Silicone Case For iPod nano is a good, but incomplete, product. It's made from good quality silicon and it's molded and shaped well. It fits the iPod like a glove and yet it's easy to put on and remove. But there is no screen protection and no click wheel protection either. There are cutouts on the back for an armband, yet one is not provided. As it is, I have no complaints with this skin, but without a more complete package, I have to curtail my praise as well.

The good: Good quality silicon; fits the iPod very well; easy to put on and remove; attractive colors.
The not so good: No screen protection; no click wheel protection; cutouts for armband but it's not included.
